Sustainable Threads

Sustainable Threads is committed to cultivating long-term fair trade relationships with low-income artisan communities. The artisans they work with are scattered across India and face diverse challenges and social concerns. They have a specific emphasis on artisan cooperatives and groups employing marginalized women. Sustainable Threads aspires to provide these artisans access to fair wages, larger markets and secure, sustainable livelihoods. Beyond this, they try to work with groups that engage with local social and environmental concerns and create enriching opportunities and new possibilities for artisans and their communities.

Sustainable Threads collaborates closely with these artisan cooperatives and groups in order to develop mutually-beneficial and long term trade relationships. These relationships allow them to offer customers beautiful and meaningful high quality products. All of the products made by these groups are hand-made, and carefully designed to be environmentally friendly

All Across Africa

When you purchase and enjoy handcrafted goods from Kazi, you are creating opportunities for men and women across Africa to thrive.  It’s that simple. Inspired living, opportunities to thrive. Go ahead, take in your love for the world every day and share in the delight of connecting with African artisans. It’s what they do every day at KAZI.
Their business model reaches deep into rural villages in the developing world and provides training and fair wage jobs that restore dignity and promote self-sufficiency - they see it as the way forward for sustainable development in Africa.

Kazi also reinvests their profits to further expand artisan development through artisan training; they train rural farmers to become artisans and teach existing craftsmen new techniques to expand markets.  Additionally, their teams provide education on finance, business management and leadership in what we call our “market bundle” to empower men and women throughout the entire value chain.

Sobremesa by Greenheart is a fair trade lifestyle brand inspired by a gathering of great friends and the lively conversation that accompanies a delicious meal. Made by blending traditional techniques with a modern aesthetic, each handcrafted product is designed to sustain both the environment and the skilled artisans who made it.

Sobremesa is Fair Trade Redefined.

Novica works with Artisans in over 8 regions all over the world! Not only do they work with artisans in order to give them a greater marketplace to sell their art but they offer 0% interest loans to help artisans to have the capital they need to expand their businesses.  To date, Novica has sent out over 87 million dollars to their artisans!

New York native Elizabeth Suda wanted to answer a simple question: “how and by whom are the goods we consume made?”
After two years in the Merchandising Department at Coach, she packed her bags and traveled to Laos. She was without a plan, but prepared. Upon arrival in Vientiane she began knocking on the doors of local women-based textile businesses. She was on a mission to understand how local, sustainable crafts made by women could be plugged into the global fashion market.
Recognizing that market linkage and design are major constraints on artisans, she founded ARTICLE 22 when she met artisans in a rural village melting US bombs into spoons. She was beguiled by her lack of awareness of the Secret War in Laos 1963-1974 which left a legacy of 80 million unexploded bombs.
She created the Peacebomb bracelet with the idea of buying back the bombs. Since, ARTICLE22 has developed into a global business with "doing good" at its core.

Each piece gives back to support traditional Laotian artisan livelihoods, village development, community endeavors and further de-mining efforts.

Your purchase contributes to MAG (Mines Advisory Group) to safely & expertly clear some of the 80 million unexploded bombs contaminating land in Laos.
