The origin of mudcloth can be traced back to the 12th century where it was first created in Mali, a north African country in the Sahara Desert region. The cloth is exported worldwide for use in fashion, fine art and home decoration.

Mudcloth is made of strips of hand-loomed cotton cloths that are hand-stitched together. They are softened and dyed in small vats of organic botanicals that includes leaves, bark, and fermented river mud. Symbolic imagery is then painted on in mud using sticks and stencils.

These bolts of cloth are cut with raw edges and ready to sew. Each sold separately. Sold as is.
