Handwoven Braided Market Tote Bag
Handmade in San Juan la Laguna, Guatemala each bag features beautifully handwoven cotton textile with a unique braided handle. Lightweight and durable, these roomy bags are easily folded and stashed for travel.
To bring you this back we work with Mayan women from the cooperative Algodon de Textiles in the highlands of Guatemala. Using their centuries old traditions of dying and weaving; these pieces are colored using all natural dyes derived from local plants and minerals, like indigo, carrot, rosemary, and basil. The unique textiles pattern is created by using a traditional technique of tying and dying the threads called ikat or jaspe and weaving the fabric on a back strap loom.
